This Privacy Policy explains what information BlackPearlBitcoin collects when you use blackpearlbitcoin.com, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA).
Effective date: May 15, 2026. We will update the date above whenever this policy changes materially.
Who we are
BlackPearlBitcoin (“we,” “us,” “our”) is an independent crypto research and news publication operating the website at blackpearlbitcoin.com. For the purposes of GDPR, BlackPearlBitcoin is the data controller for personal data processed through this site. You can reach us about any privacy matter at [email protected]. [Owner to confirm and insert the legal entity name and registered address for the data controller, and an EU/UK representative if one is required under Article 27 of the GDPR.]
Information we collect
We collect two kinds of information: information you give us, and information collected automatically when you visit.
Information you provide
- Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and any name you choose to provide.
- Contact and correspondence. When you email us or submit a form, we receive your email address, your message, and anything else you include.
- Comments and submissions. If you leave a comment or send a research submission, we collect the content you provide and the details attached to it (such as name and email).
Information collected automatically
- Server and log data. Like virtually all websites, our servers automatically record technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the referring URL, the pages you view, and the date and time of access. This is used to operate, secure, and debug the site.
- Device and connection data. General information about the device and connection you use, such as screen size and language settings, which helps us render the site correctly.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Small files and equivalent technologies used as described in the next section.
We do not ask for, and have no need of, special-category data (such as health, biometric, or political information). Please do not send it to us.
Cookies and tracking technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them sparingly, and group them as follows:
- Essential cookies. Required for the site to function — for example, to maintain security, balance load, or remember your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
- Analytics cookies. If and when we use a web-analytics service to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, how the site performs — it may set analytics cookies or process usage data. We configure analytics to be privacy-respecting and to avoid building advertising profiles of individuals. The specific analytics provider in use, if any, is named in our cookie notice at the point of collection.
- Advertising cookies. We do not currently serve third-party advertising on this site. If that changes, this policy and our cookie controls will be updated before any advertising cookies are set, and you will be able to manage your choices.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when one is sent. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website and its content;
- send the newsletters and updates you have asked to receive;
- respond to your emails, comments, questions, corrections, and requests;
- understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve what we publish and how it reads;
- detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical problems; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent — for newsletter sign-ups and for non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for operating and securing the site, understanding aggregate usage, and responding to your correspondence, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with applicable law.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We use vetted third parties to operate the site — for example hosting and content-delivery providers, email-delivery services, and (where used) an analytics provider. They process data only on our instructions and only to perform their service for us.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or where necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If the publication is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will note it here if your rights would be affected.
Third-party links and content
Our articles link to third-party websites, data sources, and documents. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. Review their policies before providing them with personal data.
Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and diagnostics and are then deleted or anonymized.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, the UK, or the EEA (GDPR)
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; rectify inaccurate data; request erasure (“right to be forgotten”); restrict or object to processing; obtain your data in a portable format (data portability); and withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it; to access and delete your personal information; to correct inaccurate information; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still exercise your other rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.
International data transfers
We operate online and may process and store information on servers located outside your country, including in jurisdictions whose data-protection laws differ from your own. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent recognized mechanism.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for a professional, adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 (or under 13 where that is the applicable threshold). If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
